Attorney General Reveals Inquiry into President's Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Ties
This past Friday, Pam Bondi designated interim US attorney Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into political adversaries of the President and their links with Jeffrey Epstein. This action came hours after Trump ordered her to initiate the investigation.
In a statement, Bondi highlighted Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She added, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This action seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from justice department officials which indicated that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the memo, investigators “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”
Trump Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in the Epstein Matter
The announcement comes as growing demands from Trump on lawmakers to resist the full release of files concerning Epstein before an key congressional decision next week. Several lawmakers are expected to support the release.
Recently released communications from Jeffrey Epstein have spotlighted the president’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, including details that his knowledge of Epstein’s behavior exceeded prior admissions.
That same day, the President declared he would direct the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “deception”.
