Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Turdy Character on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have found numerous entertaining independent titles. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure features a character that is actually a turd striving to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
The gameplay is simple: press a one button to leap. Throughout one hundred fifty stages, encounter boss fights and access a shop to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Time your jumps precisely, as a error means beginning again. Jump using air pockets to propel yourself upward, traverse fragile ledges, and touch switches to reveal secret routes. Gather coins to purchase more difficult levels as things gets crazy.
Graphically, the demo boasts vibrant stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple art with moving abstract forms may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to name other games where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create grenades from protagonist waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, such content shows up a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its humorous premise, Unko Technica has already received notable awards, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on PC in the fall.
