Shocking Video Captures Point Officers Get Knifed in Unexpected Assault
A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
"Officer stabbed," the officer could be heard saying over his communication device.
Officer-mounted and dashcam footage shared by the agency revealed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon extended.
He struck the policeman who stumbled and fell to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the floor even though being continually attacked with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a clear shot, bringing the struggle to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get assistance on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell received multiple lacerations to his throat and further wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's blood loss prior to paramedics came.
The new honor arrives subsequent to the three officers received organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in April 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The actions of all three officers eventually protected one another and ensured no bystanders endured any harm."
Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, according to officials.
