Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, as announced by palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an rare public appearance together at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Palace insiders have characterized Prince William's attendance at the upcoming climate summit as assuming an significant responsibility in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were greeted participants featuring conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and government officials.

This engagement involved presentations in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of France and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco earlier this year.

Environmental Prize Link

The climate conference will align with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the COP summit on 6 November.

Recently the prince characterized the award contenders as "contemporary champions".

The King has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
